Find your best starting point in a few minutes

Choosing a course should not feel like guesswork. New Energy Training has three main pathways for non-electricians. Each one lines up with how you work now plus where you would like to head next.

  • Certified Advocate: Admin pathway Best if you keep jobs moving behind the scenes and want to understand the language of solar and batteries so you can book jobs, order equipment and talk to customers with more confidence.
  • Certified Consultant: Sales pathway Best if you speak with customers, prepare quotes or coordinate installs and want a simple process for site surveys so you can hand clean, accurate jobs to designers and installers.
  • Certified Designer: Design pathway Best if you want to move toward technical design work and over time hold Solar Accreditation Australia design credentials for on-grid or off-grid systems.

Run better site visits and customer conversations

Certified Designer

Step into technical solar design

Certified Designer is for people who are ready to move toward technical work and want to design solar and battery systems over time. These pathways step you through foundational short courses plus the design units required for on-grid or off-grid Solar Accreditation Australia design credentials. You will also work with leading design software such as OpenSolar, Orkestra and Pylon so your skills translate into real project work.

Solar Accreditation Australia offers separate design only accreditations that can be held by non electricians. Installation accreditations require an unrestricted electrical licence plus additional requirements, so Designer pathways focus on the design side and prepare you for those design only options.

Envision your study routine

See how study fits around your day

You might be working full time, raising a family or planning a career change. These pathways are built so you can study part time around work or treat your course like a short full time block. Use the example routines below to picture how Certified Advocate, Certified Consultant or Certified Designer could fit into a normal week.
Example routine for part time study

Around 6 to 8 hours of study across the week

A good fit if you work full time and are completing Certified Advocate or Certified Consultant. Also suits a slower Certified Designer pace.

Daily Routine
  • 6.30 am – 7.00 am Coffee plus watch a short lesson or review notes
  • 7.00 am – 8.30 am Morning routine then commute
  • 9.00 am – 5.00 pm Work

Small, regular blocks like this can add up to roughly 6 to 8 study hours each week.

Example routine for full time study
